Training for access to the profession of official tourist guide in the Canary islands

Tourism must and will undoubtedly be part of the socio-economic model of the Canary Islands, but we should ask ourselves many questions in this regard:

• Is the current tourism model still valid for us?
• Does the tourism model affect the quality of life of the islanders?
• Is our tourism model respectful of resources, territory and natural spaces?
• Is tourism fair to the local population and where does the wealth go?
• How do we want tourism to be present in the Canary Islands?
• Do we need to continue to grow?
• Should we continue to depend on the tourism sector to the extent that we are?
• How can we make tourism a complement to a better life and not our only source of livelihood?

We believe it is very important to help create critical views that can help change the model from within. People who know and know how to communicate the values of nature and Canarian culture and who collaborate in their defence. People who see the territory and its values as treasures to be preserved and not as resources to be exploited. For this reason, together with a small local academy, we are organising a training course for people who want to become official tourist guides of the Canary Islands and who want to approach this world from a different perspective.
